Saturday 13th October 2009 2.30pm - 4.30pm for Carmen
Saturday 17th October 2009 2.30pm - 4.30pm for Madam Butterfly
In each season one of WNO’s operas is chosen to be the subject of a free two-hour workshop, exploring the roots of the opera and involving singers from the company, who give an exclusive performance of some of the highlights of the score. This is a great opportunity to experience first-hand the creation of the opera from the page to the stage.
Explore Opera is suitable for all ages – including families – and for those who are completely new to opera as well as seasoned regulars.
Explore Opera does not need to be booked in advance.
Operas are complex, collaborative works with composers, librettists, conductors, directors, designers, singers, musicians and back-stage crew working flat-out to produce an evening of drama and music. The 30 minute pre-performance talks will attempt to unscramble these tangled relationships.
We can arrange to book a FREE session in advance for our guests.
